Underground Railroad

The underground railroad was a secret system of safehouses and routes that were to help slaves get to the north and be free. Often times, slaves that escaped on this route came back to help other slaves. Some famous people who helped with the underground railroad were Harriet Tubman, William Still, and Charles Wheaton.
